The Healthy Planet Radio Show Archive

The Healthy Planet Radio Show has been airing on WUSB, 90.1 FM, since January of 2007. It immediately follows Democracy Now! during “drive time,” from 6 to 7 PM — now on the first and second Fridays of each month! As of May, 2019, we’re excited to be welcoming our new co-hosts to The Healthy Planet Radio Show, Robyn Kenul, R.D., and Gabrielle Bolin! They’ll be alternating with HealthyPlanet’s Bob DiBenedetto to bring you twice as much empowering, life-and- world-changing information each month!

WUSB is Long Island’s largest non-commercial, free-form radio station. The signal can be heard at 90.1 FM on most of Long Island, and in Southern Connecticut, parts of NYC (Brooklyn and Queens), and Westchester County. It also simulcasts on 107.3 to reach Stony Brook University campus. It can be heard over the Internet 24/7, on WUSB.FM.

“The Green New Deal, & Clean Energy in NY”

Bob DiBenedetto Interviews: Eric Weltman

Senior Organizer, Food & Water Watch

(Show description & bio* below.)

Show Description:

Join HealthyPlanet’s Bob DiBenedetto for a look at what’s behind the Green New Deal, as well as an update on NY’s Clean Energy Future! Bob will be interviewing Food & Water Watch‘s Senior Organizer, Eric Weltman (*see bio below) for some expert insight into some of the challenges and opportunities for New Yorkers to move powerfully toward clean energy–despite all attempts by Washington to remove health and environment-protective regulations and policies.

No matter where you turn, information from government and academic experts from every country on Earth are saying the same thing: as predicted for decades, climate change has arrived–and we need to act now in order to avoid even more catastrophic impacts.

Unfortunately, despite an existing public health emergency claiming tens-of-thousands of American lives annually, and despite the fact that cost-competitive clean energy technology is available today, the current administration and almost the entire Republican party refuse to acknowledge, or act on even the most dire warnings of our best experts. Is all lost?

Tune in to hear:
– A description of the Green New Deal that shows the fear-mongering of some media sources for what it is.

– What actions are pending in NY that could make us Clean Energy Leaders across the country, while removing dangerous pollutants from our air.

– How you can speak up to those NY politicians who have the opportunity to weigh in on life and environment saving measures… and why there’s no time to waste.

– Has the clean energy movement been halted due to our lack of leadership in D.C., or are we moving forward with leaps and bounds?

– What state has just announced a HUGE victory in halting hydrofracking?

– Who is hurt most when our elected officials block a rapid move toward addressing pollution and climate change?

– Does clean energy create or hurt jobs in America? (The answer is clear, and exciting!)

This will be an invaluable discussion on the topic of our times. Tune in and become part of the informed solution!
