Celebrating Truth & Action In
Climate & Energy Policy:

President Joe Biden and NY Governor Andrew Cuomo lay out aggressive jobs/climate plans.

Show Description:

The inauguration has passed, and a new administration under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is now in charge of America’s environmental, climate and energy policy.

Join HealthyPlanet’s Bob DiBenedetto for a one hour show that features the climate/energy plans for the United States and New York State, as outlined by President Joe Biden and Governor Andrew Cuomo. These plans go far beyond anything we’ve seen thus far, and acknowledge the urgent need to address the climate emergency that is before us.

While much of what you’ll hear on this show reflects what we’ve outlined on The Healthy Planet over many years, what’s news is that these actions are now being expressed by those at the highest levels of government. This is a long-awaited cause for hope and celebration, especially following the Trump administration’s destructive, anti-science policies of the past four years!

Some of the points that President Biden and Governor Cuomo highlight:

• how climate change, pollution, and COVID-19 fatalities are all connected
• the creation of a new White House Office of Domestic Climate Policy
• how environmental justice and targeted job creation is an integral part of climate action
• how the current Administration will protect scientists from political interference and censorship
• how climate action will be a robust creator of jobs
• how climate change is an existential threat
• how climate action must address existing environmental injustices
• the planned NYS $26 billion public/private partnership to build nearly 100 renewable energy projects
• the coming Offshore Wind Training Institute planned for SUNY Stony Brook and Farmingdale State College that will train workers for the wind, solar and geothermal industries
• how New York State will become a hub for building wind turbines for the world
• the planned replacement of the inefficient heating/cooling systems from 130,000 building that will create scores of local jobs
• how the creation of 50,000 jobs and $29 billion in private investment will launch NY State into a post-COVID-19 economy

… and much more.

While it is necessary to continue to encourage our elected officials to address the climate crisis we’re facing as soon as possible, and while we can and will take issue with some aspects of the White House plan, for this moment, we all have reason to celebrate the paradigm shift that is currently taking place in front of our eyes.
