Water: Climate-Related Challenges To Earth’s Most Precious, Dwindling Resource
With Mary Grant:
Public Water for All Campaign Director at Food & Water Watch
LISTEN HERE: Water: Climate-Related Challenges To Earth’s Most Precious, Dwindling Resource, with Food And Water Watch’s Mary Grant
Show Description:
Most Americans have been fortunate enough to think of water, Earth’s most precious resource, as a given in their lives. So we turn on the tap, assuming that it will be there when we need it. But unfortunately, for many, the availability of this resource that is necessary for life is being threatened by federal disinvestment and failing infrastructure, unjust policies, and a changing climate that’s bringing unprecedented decades-long droughts, extreme heat, melting snow packs, and extreme storms.
Join HealthyPlanet’s Bob DiBenedetto for an interview with Mary Grant, Food and Water Watch’s Public Water For All Director. They discuss the surprising ways that most of the water is used in this country and the challenges that disproportionately impact communities of color and the economically challenged– resulting in unsafe water supplies and tens of millions of water shutoffs each year.
They also outline some of the exciting solutions that are on the table, including the Water Affordability, Transparency, Equity and Reliability (WATER) Act.
